Andrea Leadsom, MP for South Northamptonshire, has secured the unanimous support of her local Conservative Party to stand as Parliamentary Candidate for the General Election in 2015.
At a packed meeting of local party members in Towcester on Friday evening, Andrea delivered a full and detailed review of her wide-ranging parliamentary interests and her many and continuing efforts to represent the concerns of local people. Andrea highlighted some of her activities including speaking in Parliament over 600 times during the past three and a half years and writing more than 10,000 letters to or on behalf of local constituents. Those present agreed that she has been a hard-working and conscientious MP and unanimously endorsed her re-adoption as candidate for the forthcoming election.
Speaking after the meeting, Peter Warner, Chairman of the South Northants Conservative Association, said: "We are extremely lucky to have such a talented and energetic MP as Andrea Leadsom in South Northants. I am sure she will go from strength to strength.”
Andrea Leadsom MP said: ‘I am delighted to be re-adopted as the Conservative candidate for South Northamptonshire. It has been a great honour to serve the people of this area, and I look forward to continuing to do so to the best of my ability.
This government has introduced a huge number of important reforms to put our country back on its feet—from welfare reform, to improving education, to clawing back the deficit—but our work is far from complete. After the election, I look forward to a Conservative government that will continue to improve the lives of hardworking people in South Northamptonshire and across the UK.’
